los angeles y los diablitos, MimosA y Elissa

I've been meaning to write something to go with the pictures from LA last weekend (God was it only last weekend? Feels way longer than that) and am just now--as i am waiting indefinitely for Mr. Ryan Lash to get here--getting some not half awake time.  LA was great, i went down b/c my friend Eric (and new friends Dave and Steve) had a show with their band MimosA .  As you can imagine, i think these guys rock!  The whole flamenco guitar/rock thing is really great.  So i called up my music fiend, mr. Bijan DaBell, and we checked out the show!

I think you should all at least listen to their stuff if not add them on MySpace.

On top of that....there are a couple of videos from us during a "living room set" the fancy way of saying eric playing while i ate ;) and half of one from Java n Jazz that some guy stood in the middle of....forgive the chatter in the background...Elissa was recording and we aren't so professional.

AND i got to see my big sister Elissa for the first time in 13 years.  Elissa is the reason i started painting in watercolors, because i was so in love with what she did.  At any rate, i had lost track of her after she graduated....until this weekend!  I had such a great time with her. I don't even know where to start....hadn't realized it was possible to miss someone so much and not know it.

Monday i started working for Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center.  Its a great organization you should all check out!

    crocuses and fasting

Its Baha'i Fast....so no eating or drinking from sunrise to sunset.
So far, not so bad. I went for a 4 mile walk earlier today. It was relaxing, sunny, warm--all the things you wouldn't think Seattle should be in March.  We set record highs today.  I also decided that apparently no one in Seattle works because the ENTIRE city was out running around Greenlake. Everyone except for me, b/c at the end of my walk all the little muscles in my legs were twitching from being used.  While i was walking back i found these beautiful little crocuses coming out of the ground (photos below).  It reminded me of Carolina...when my parents told me that their arrival was the start of spring....i used to wait the whole winter to see them break through the ground and bring color to the front yard flower beds.  the ones today are purple and white....fitting given that everything is green and blue.

Heidi and I spent the weekend at the Hood Canal at her family's "cabin" on the water.  It was the first couple days of Fast, so we just laid around, watching movies and talking....totally calming and set the tone well.  So the other pictures are from there....the water came right up to the cabin and the last day we were there the mountains were visible...white capped in the distance.

    This is my Washington.
