    slackers r us

So, its been a long month, new job, getting into law school, moving to Queen Anne...
no excuse really to go MIA, but alas.

One of the highlights was the weekend Baha'i youth retreat in Woodinville. I was able to help out by facilitate a couple of the sessions on the Youth Can Move the World book...they had such great discussions about the nature of really living lives of service and what it means to teach or share one's Faith in a way that is not pushy or apologetic.  They also let me MC the fundraiser dessert for the Seattle Baha'i Teaching Center, which was a blast....the talented youth put on a great show of poetry and music.  Same weekend i got to hang out with Jo, one of the older Baha'is in the community for a home visit...stories, prayers and stuff....i adore her.

Court and I have this new apartment in Queen Anne, which is the neighborhood directly north of downtown.  Its great, with lots of open space and a nice feel to it.  We are in the process of decorating, which is fabulous, and totally challenging.  The view is wicked...we can see Elliot Bay, the Olympic Mountains, a golf course, and the trains.  Right now, the sky is a warm gray and shades of blue with the sun streaking through breaks in the clouds.  The wall of windows faces west, so sunset comes in the window...which i love. Plus at night the lights of the ferry boats on the bay are the epitome of what i deem Seattle.  Sometimes, big boats dock at the port, which reminds me of home (Haifa) so much...waxing nostalgic....okay, back in the present.  The only weird quirk with the new place is that when the washing machine goes on spin cycle, the whole apartment shakes like there's an earthquake...gotta love 1960s buildings...in fact, i thought there was an earthquake the first time it happened and checked out the US geologic society web site to make sure.  yeah, i deserve any kind of smart comment that comes up from that.

Mid June, i start law school at Seattle University, which is sort of daunting. So work full time and school four nights a week---argh! But, in three and a half years, barring some kind of major meltdown, i can add a JD to my list of degrees, which currently has only one on it.  I am both really excited and really scared--have to stay in the top 25% to keep my scholarship.  Everyone, cross your fingers. i am about to have NO life.

Luckily, also in June, my parents come, as does Nadia, and we are going to our ten year reunion at Maxwell...yeah, ten years.  Which means, that there are people in my life i've known for like 15 years now....which is WILD. So yeah, work's great, life's great. YAY.  Oh yeah, except for that thing where my computer blew up and Karen in the Philippines had to tell me how to reformat/restore to factory settings.
