    The LSAT and the train-wreck

To avoid having to tell the story a million times, Mar Inc. Ltd. Presents:
The story of Mar's trip to the LSAT

Once upon a time there was a lil girl named Mar, who decided to go to law school.  She began haphazardly studying for the LSAT two months before she took it.  Luckily, being Israel--it is offered on a different date than in the US, allowing our heroine to return from her jet-set vacation two days prior to the exam.

Yes, you are right observant reader, that does make it so little Mar is trying to write the make-or-break-my-law-school-dreams test right as jet lag is in FULL swing. But, with little vacation time left, and a firm belief that she would do the same with or without sleep---Tel Aviv on the 13th it was.

All was going according to plan--scores on practice tests had stabilized to an acceptable, although not superb, level---until a train wreck between Netanya and Herzilya (aka between ME and the LSAT) derailed (hahaha) my brilliant plan to catch the train down in the morning.  So after a few long hard hours of panicking--settled on the bus.  The last place in the world i wanted to be, however, early in the morning or in the afternoon at peak traffic hours is Tel Aviv central bus station.  At any rate--5:45 am found me at the Haifa bus station--frantically praying they were going to bring more than one bus--because i had definitely just missed the first one and if it was more than another 15 minutes until the next--i would miss the test.

well, obviously i made it there an back--and my dramatic worry over test missing and things blowing up was completely unfounded.  Now i just have NO CLUE (honestly--i don't) how i did....so if you are more than just curious in passing--you can check back after July 3rd to see if i am still planning on getting into Law School--or if i have given up that dream and am going to either 1-find a job or 2-go live in the jungle.

NOTE:  A friend brought up a good point---he mentioned travelling with all the hot israel girl soldiers--which i am going to spin a little for my purposes.  Its really wild to get on a bus/train/whatever surrounded by 20 year olds with machine guns.  Occassionally, its a little unnerving, but i have kinda taken it as a right of passage that i no longer blink at seeing this (so much so that it didn't occur to me to mention it earlier). To give yourself an idea what we are talking about--next time you are in the mall or something--just imagine a gun strapped to the back of everyone between 18 and 22.

    DC/Baltimore/the lightsies hurts my eyes

Live from Newark International Airport---its the Martha wears sunglasses inside show.  Yup, after two weeks of constant motion--my body is throwing in the towel and my eyes have declared mutiny.  I figure it must be a pretty funny sight---me hiding in the corner of Starbucks in the terminal, sunglasses (the replacements for the lost Gucci-Knockoffs) on, chai latte in hand.  Somehow i managed a hangover without any alcohol.

This tail end of the trip has been an experience in fly-by-the-seat-of-my-jeans.  I made it to Baltimore--but the luggage didn't. Which is no problem really--b/c i also couldn't find Bahie for like 4 hours....so it was a good thing that i wasn't hauling my stupid backpack around.  Brunch with Adam was really nice...getting to spend a whole day with Bahie was a rare treat, and seeing Ilissa after so long was really priceless.  More and more i realize how blessed i am that rarely does it ever feel like time has really passed when i am with my friends--somehow it stands still--years seem like months.

DC was DC--Amy is a fabulous light and after sharing living in 3 places with her, getting to see her in my old town feels like a perfect fourth....she scored this awesome apartment in Foggy Bottom and i am super jealous.  Scott and I went to the Smithsonians--the Freer Asian Art Gallery and the new Native American Museum.  The latter is really amazing---HIGHLY RECOMMEND it to anyone going to DC.

The main reason i hit up DC on this trip though was to meet Deihim's fiancee--Julie.  Its always a little strange when your near and dear ones are getting married to someone you haven't met before. So, i was really grateful to have the opportunity to spend at least a little time with her.  Julie is a really wonderful woman and i am soooo glad that Deihim found her (or she him, however you look at it).  The pictures are from a dinner we had with with Nafis and Shirin :)

    Seattle, Kirkland, and Redmond

More pics--including Farsh cuddling Simba--can be found at Dhab and Tana's page

Aka Seattle and it surroundings....the mountians were beautiful, trees a shade of green i have missed in the 6 years its been since i was there last.

I can't tell you how much we had planned to do--it was wild. Seeing so many people i love and adore in one place (and Shayda after 12 years), feeling so relaxed and happy, and at the same time soo tired from doing so much was incredible. not to mention i can't imagine the trip without my new friends: the Honorable Mr. Alex, Ms. Ara-you'll like my jewelery (wink wink) --and the stunning Ms. Heidi.

For those of you who knew--making it to the Blue Scholars show didn't happen. Cirque du Soleil was all it was cracked up to be--i am totally in awe of those people! The costumes were wild, as were the stunts. The pics are from Venom. Sunday was children's class and Iqan class day.

Alex and Amelia, Farshid and Neda, Amelia-Kaiwan-Maleha are all doing really well :) Most importantly though: Oceans of love though to the Rychetnik/Eng clan for making the time what it was...
